Comanche crushes Bulldogs in ‘ugly’ district baseball tilt

District-leading Comanche routed the Brady Bulldogs here last Friday night, 16-3, in a 10-rule game as they continued to impress District 6-3A opponents. “It was ugly,” Brady coach Bill Brown said of the game. “We committed eight errors to their one. Most of our miscues came in the first two innings when they scored 10 runs.” The Indians scored four runs in the first inning and came back to six more in the second frame. Jeremy Shields started for the Bulldogs and went four innings giving up 16 runs on nine hits, six of them being extra base hits. Blaine Whittington came on to pitch the final inning, the fifth. He gave up no runs, no hits and struck out two. Comanche registered four doubles and a pair of triples. Brady got only five hits and three runs off J. Marwitz, who went four innings. Feist pitched the final inning. Brady’s only extra base was from Trevor Rainey, who slammed a two-run double in the first inning. “We have to win out in order to make the playoffs,” Brown said after the game. Highlights for Brady, according to Brown: ‘Blaine Whittington’pitched 1 inning, 2 Ks, no runs, no hits. ‘Abraham Cortez’2 for 2, 1 run scored. ‘Trevor Rainey’1 for 2, 2 RBIs, 1 double. ‘Clifton Tally’1 for 2, 1 stolen base. ‘Ted Williams, 1 for 2, 1 run scored. Cortez is leading the Brady team in batting. He has played in 15 games and is hitting .435’10 hits out of 23 at-bats. Rainey is next for Brady, playing in 18 games and hitting .320. He has been at-bat 50 times with 16 hits, including five doubles. Chris Airheart is the only Bulldog to hit a home run. He has two. Brady is on the road Thursday to meet Clyde, will host Abilene Wylie on Friday and will complete their regular season schedule on April 22 at Early.
