Serving our country overseas

Dear Citizens of Brady: From February until mid-March I served as a part of Stabilization Force 12 (SFOR 12) in Bosnia helping to bring peace, freedom and stability to a very troubled part of the world. The soldiers of SFOR 12 not only served to disarm and separate combatants, but to provide medical and dental services to civilians. More importantly, they serve as role models for not only Serbs, Croats, and Bosnians, but for the various multi-national forces with whom we worked. Our military serve (for the most part) as models in peace and in war of freedom, sacrifice, respect for human diginity and just the ability to get along with each other. There is no more ethnically or racially diverse military in the world and certainly none better than that of the USA. “…One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all…” concepts that a lot of the world has a hard time comprehending. With the change of command to SFOR 13 in mid-March, I was redeployed to the European Regional Medical Command in Germany where I currently serve soldiers and units of the 1st Armored Division and their dependents. I appreciate the support that Brady, McCulloch County, and the Heart of Texas have always shown for those who serve or have served in the military. Brady is a place that I’m proud to tell anyone that I’m from and a place to which I eagerly anticipate returning when I’m not needed here any more. I’m proud to have the opportunity to serve our country and its soldiers at this critical time in our history. I appreciate the support that I have received and continue to receive from Doctors Allen, Castro and Noonan, from individuals, from friends, patients and of course, my wife and family. Lonnie L.
