Verda Crumley, 102, of Brady, died Thursday, March 27, in Eldorado. Funeral services were held Monday, March 31 at 1 p.m. at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels, Rev. Andy Anderson and Rev. Blake O’Dell officiating. Burial followed in the Rest Haven Cemetery. Born April 12, 1900 in Kingsland, she was the daughter of Charlie Montgomery and Jeanette (Davee) Montgomery. She married Hubert E. Crumley on Aug. 4, 1918, in Doole. She was a homemaker and a lifetime active member of the First Baptist Church in Brady. She was a member of the Womens Missionary Union of Baptist Churches and the Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by a son, James C. Crumley and wife, Neva, of San Antonio; two daughters, Nevella Sallee of Eldorado and Verba West of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert Crumley on Feb. 26, 1994; three brothers; a sister; a son-in-law, Russel Sallee; and a grandson, Allan Sallee.
