The youth of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Brady spent spring break working at Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat. Twenty-five young people from the sixth-12th grades were accompanied by four adult sponsors on the annual outing. They painted the large assembly hall, cleared brush and fences for a new ropes course and removed old screening from seven cabanas. After a hard days work they would gather for worship and a camp fire. They proved that our teenagers can work hard and get major projects completed in a remarkably short time. The Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat is the camping facility for the central area of the Christian Church in the southwest. It is supported by 45 Christian Churches from Wichita Falls to Midland. It is in operation year-round hosting a summer camping program and weekend retreats of all kinds. Several thousand persons attend the camp each year. It is located on the North Shore of Lake Brownwood near the State Park.
