Milford Walker, 78, of Medina, died Monday, March 11 in a San Angelo hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, March 14 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Medina, with Dr. Allie Balko officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina. He was born Jan. 23, 1925, in McKinney to Floyd and Lillye (Godwin) Walker. On Aug. 19, 1868, he married Norma Beard in Midland. Milford was a World War II veteran, awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. After leaving the service, he worked for Hinkle Standard Oil Distributors as a route salesman before owning his own service station. Survivors include two sons, Toby Walker and wife, Tammy, of Brady and Johnny A. Walker and wife, Norma, of San Angelo; a daughter, Carole Gibson and husband, Ernest, of Medina; three sisters, Lorene Woodruff and husband, J.B., Maurine Mallonee and Dorothy Rogers; two brothers, Claudie Walker and wife, Betty, and Billie Walker and wife, Helen; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Polly Walker; his second wife, Norma Walker; two brothers, Ogle and O.B. Walker; and a sister, Shirley Walker.
