Bulldog JV lose first game of year, then win

Brady’s JV baseball team suffered its first defeat of the season last Tuesday in Bangs as the JV Dragons scored early and late to win, 13-3. The Bulldogs got back on track Friday with a 9-7 victory over Sonora JV. Bangs jumped on Brady pitcher Bryan Boyd early, scoring two runs in the first and added five in the third. Boyd went the complete game and suffered his first loss of the year. Brady’s only score came in the final inning (6th) when Matthew Watson and Jacob Bierman drove in a couple of runs. Top hitters for the Bulldogs were Watson, 2 of 3, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI; and Jacob Bierman, 2 of 3, including a triple, 1 run scored and 1 RBI. The teams went back and forth through three innings as the Broncos emerged after that period with a 6-4 lead. After Sonora added another run in the fourth inning, the Dogs wrapped up the ball game in the top of the sixth by scoring five runs. Brandon Sammon and Boyd split the pitching for Brady, and Boyd came out with the win. Ted Williams, who went four-for-four, hammered out a triple for Brady and Cook got a double for the Doggies. Leading hitters for the Bulldogs were: Williams, 4 of 4, 2 runs, a triple and 1 RBI; Boyd, 2 for 2 with an RBI; Sammons, 2 for 3; and Jacob Bierman, 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.
