Brady’s newest business, Keith’s Ace Hardware, broke ground on its new store location Friday morning. The new 24,000 square foot store will be located on the west side of U.S. Hwy. 87 South just north of Lynn Gavitt Road. The new store will be the eighth store in the privately-owned chain. “All of Keith’s stores are Ace stores,” said store manager Monte Owens. “Ace is a member-owned co-op of over 5,000 hardware stores of which our stores are in the top 100. By being members of this cooperative, Keith’s has the added purchasing power of the chain as well as access to over 100,000 items.” Other stores are located in Waco, Clifton, Mart, Marlin, Red Oak and McGregor. “We are excited about coming to Brady,” said company owner John Keith. “We have put a lot of thought and research into choosing Brady as our eighth location. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our 20th anniversary. “This will be our biggest store ever. We will stock approximately 45,000 different items including paint, tools, electrical, plumbing, nuts and bolts, garden supplies, guns and ammunition, feed and various other supplies.. “We specialize in customer service and getting and stocking what the customers need. We have in-house accounts for commercial businesses such as the schools, the city, nursing homes, plumbers, electricians, ranchers and other businesses.’ Owens, a longtime Brady resident with over 25 years’ experience in the industry, expects to staff the business with 15-20 people from the local area. Work crews are expected to begin this week and plans are to have the facility up and running by September.
