The Howard Kilmer Post 510 of the American Legion and Auxiliary met Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. for their monthly business meetings. During the social hour, Ora Nell Cavin and June Long served a delicious meal to 16 members. The Legion and Auxiliary had a brief joint meeting conducted by Commander Hilmer Kruckemeyer and President Peggy Ross. The Post Home will be used as a polling place for the Republican Party Primary on March 12 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. As this is the scheduled date for the Legion and Auxiliary monthly business meetings, the date for the March meetings will be changed to Monday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Post home with the social hour scheduled for 6 p.m. Final plans were also made for the fund-raiser, a pancake supper and game night scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m. A delicious all-you-can eat meal of pancakes, sausage, coffee and tea may be enjoyed followed by an evening of playing games such as spinner, chickenfoot, 42, etc. The meal is by donation and proceeds will be used for the upkeep of the Post home. The public is invited to attend and enjoy an evening of good food and fellowship. June Long, Community Service chairman, announced that in observance of Community Service Month, a box for The Haven, the McCulloch County Abuse Shelter in Brady will be at the March meeting. She asked members to bring personal items such as soap, tooth paste, tooth brushes and other items that might be needed at the shelter. Mrs. Long, also brought to the members’ attention, that March is the month to turn in community service volunteer hours and expenses to her. All members were reminded that all annual reports need to be turned into President Ross before the district convention to be held March 23-24 in Ingram. Just a friendly reminder’the March business meetings will be held Monday, March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Post home in Mercury with the social hour beginning at 6 p.m. This change is for March only.
