George H. Johanson, 90

George H. Johanson, 90, of Brady, died Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Brady. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels, Rev. Brian Wiggins officiating. Burial followed in Eden Cemetery in Eden. Born March 6, 1911 in the East Sweden community of McCulloch County, he was the son of Henry Charles Johanson and Annie Marie (Johnson) Johanson. He married Lella Alyce Batchelor on Feb. 10, 1932 in Eden. He was a member of the Brady Presbyterian Church, serving as Deacon and Elder. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a stock farmer, raising registered Delaine sheep. He attended Texas A&M and was one of the original Singing Cadets. He judged sheep shows all over Texas and was a former member of the McCulloch Electric Cooperative’s board of directors and the Brady-San Saba Soil Conservation Service. He also was a former secretary/treasurer of the Delaine Merino Association. Survivors include his spouse, Lella Johanson of Brady; three daughters, Diane Jones and husband, Billy, of Brady; Jerodine McIntosh of Austin and Beda Johanson of Cedar Park; three sisters, Helen Bitters of San Angelo, Drusilla Miller and Dorthy Rice and husband, M.D., all of Brady; seven grandchildren, Dana Geery and husband, Jim, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lynn Boydston and husband, Darrell, of Bastrop, Liane Locke and husband, Steve, of Lubbock, Grand Jones of Mason, Allison Harris and Stephanie Harris, both of Austin and Kristi Harris of Lubbock; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet; and two brothers. The family requests that memorials be made to the Brady Presbyterian Church and/or the Library Association building fund.
