Milton E. McAnally, 71, of Brownwood and formerly of Eden, died Sunday, Feb. 10 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel of Early with Rev. Artie Woodcox officiating, assisted by Rev. Chris Whitson. Interment followed at Greenleaf Cemetery. Born Sept. 1, 1930, in Brady, he was the son of Milton L. and Mary Ann McAnally. Moving from Eden, he had been a resident of Brownwood for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean conflict. He retired from the highway department after serving 29 years. He was also a member of Mid Town Baptist Church in Brownwood. He married Jackie Lavern Farr McAnally on April 26, 1956 in Eden. She preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1982. He married Mary Sanson Newsom on Dec. 5, 1991 in Brownwood. Survivors include his wife, Mary McAnally of Brownwood; a son, Michael McAnally and wife, Shelly Gibson, of Brownwood; a stepson, Donald Newsom of Amarillo; two daughters, Misti Smith of Brownwood and Melissa Newsom of Lubbock; three brothers, John McAnally and wife, Opal, of Llano, Jesse McAnally and wife, Patsy, of Brady and Sam McAnally and wife, Dorothy, also of Brady; three sisters, Emma Shepert of Pecos, Katherine Ross of Houston and Evelyn (Lonie) Wynn of Carlsbad, N. Mex.; two sisters-in-law, Lanell McAnally of Midland and Peggy McAnally of Winters; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two stepsons, Larry and Jimmy Newsom; three brothers, Joe, Charlie and Tom McAnally; and a sister-in-law, Ann McAnally.
