Brady’s Bulldogs didn’t fare as well in their rematch with the Llano Yellowjackets last Friday night as they did in their first outing. The Dogs lost a 61-54 decision at Llano. Both teams now have a 1-6 district basketball record. Brady had defeated the Jackets in an earlier game at home, 86-76. “We jumped out to an early lead, but they came back and had a 32-30 margin at halftime,” Brady coach Shawn Dalbert said. The Doggies came back in the third quarter and tied the game at 42-all after three periods. “We just went stone cold in the final quarter, and they did a great job of hitting their free throws in the game, making 19 of 23 attempts (83 percent),” Dalbert said. He said the Bulldogs played well defensively, “but Llano made some shots that they don’t normally make. However, you have to expect that when you’re playing in their gym.” The Brady coach admitted that his team should have won regardless of Llano’s free throw success. “We just made too many mistakes,” he said. Cole Whisenhunt led the Bulldogs in scoring with 19 points. The Bulldogs will close the basketball season at Burnet Tuesday (tonight).
