The monthly business meeting of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3234 was held at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 5, at the Burton Kyle McCord Hall located at 305 Memory Lane in Brady. Eleven members, including officers were present for this meeting. There were two visitors at this meeting; Mr. Craig Steffens and Mr. Jon Ed Weaver who made a presentation to members for the proposal to upgrade Richards Park, including work in progress at the RV Park area, which is being accomplished by the City of Brady. Plans are also in place to improve the playground area, historical area, wading pool and to provide fill in the southeast side of the park that has sunken. It was further stated that the pavilion roof is in dire need of repair as are the restrooms, drinking fountains and improved lighting at the pavilion. Mr. Steffens and Mr. Weaver requested that the members of the VFW consider donating funds to cover the cost of replacing the existing roof to the Pavilian, the cost of which was roughly estimated at approximately $2,000. After considerable discussion, Steffens and Weaver agreed to obtain specific figures for replacement of the roof and check back with the members of the VFW to determine if we will support their request. The VFW will host the Southern Image Band on Friday, Feb. 15 starting at 8 p.m. and running until midnight. Light snacks will be served at 9:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out for an evening of music and dancing. BYOB. It is with great regret that I must report that our Post Commander and Bingo Coordinator, Mr. Leslie Tybo has submitted his resignation from both positions effective March 5. The Post will miss his leadership and untiring willingness in support of the VFW Bingo Program. We wish you well Les. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. Our next scheduled meeting is March 5 at 7:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend so mark your calendars as a reminder. Everyone is invited to come out and play Bingo at 7 p.m. every Thursday at the Post Hall on Memory Lane. Proceeds from Bingo are used to support programs and to provide donations in Brady and the greater McCulloch County area.
