Rotary Spokes

The Brady Rotary Club met Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 12 noon at the Caf’ at the Depot. President Steve DeFiore told the members that we have ordered 50 new United States Flags to replace some that are worn. We should receive them this spring. The next “Flag Day” for us is Feb. 18, President’s Day. Program chairman Caroline Parks introduced Bill Derrick, local jeweler. He is involved with the HOSTS program for Brady Independent School District. Any adult can spend 30 minutes each week with a student to help him/her read: Help One Student To Succeed and you may get as much out of it as the student. HOSTS is for students in grades one through four. For more information, contact Mrs. McCarver at Brady Elementary School at 597-2590. The Rotary “Gift-of-the-Month” was won by Clair Whitesell: a glass candy container. The $2 bill was won by Steve DeFiore for knowing that Rotary membership in the world increased by 35,000 in the past year. Program chairman for Feb. 12 is Cynthia Quinn. Jim Ricks will be the chairman for Feb. 19 followed by Bill Ricks on Feb. 26.
