Wayne McBee, 72, of Lubbock and formerly of McCulloch county died Tuesday, Jan. 15 in Lubbock. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Redbud Baptist Church with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. He was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Lohn, graduating from Lohn High School in 1947. After graduation he joined the Army and served in the Korean War during 1948 and 1949. He married LaJoyce (Joy) Martin McBee on May 7, 1950 in Doole. He owned and operated McBee’s Furniture Finishing and had been a furniture refinisher since 1951. He was an avid musician and a member of Southcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, LaJoyce McBee of Lubbock, two sons, Rev. Bruce McBee of Hobbs, N. Mex. and Barry McBee of Big Spring; a daughter, DeAnn Drake of Wolforth; a brother, Clifford McBee of Plainview; a sister Pete Hodges of Hereford; and five grandchildren. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. The family requests memorials be made to Southcrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
