SBA offers $$$ for those starting or expanding

The U.S. Small Business Administration in San Antonio has announced that McCulloch County has $100,000 in loan guarantees and rural outreach efforts for the first quarter of 2002. Rodney W. Martin, the district director of the USSBA in San Antonio, said the administration is proud to have Commercial National Corp. take the lead in serving the needs of the small business community. The San Antonio office of the SBA serves 55 South Texas counties and approved over $148 million in fiscal year 2001 to small business concerns. He added that the office stands ready to work with community lenders to bring in new businesses and promote economic development in and around Brady and McCulloch County. Some facts about the SBA include: ‘Backed more than $16.5 billion in financing to America’s small businesses. ‘Approved more than 50,000 loans totaling almost $12.2 billion. ‘Invested $4.5 billion in small businesses through its venture-capital program. ‘Provided more than 48,000 loans totaling approximately $1 billion to disaster victims for residential, personal-property and business loans. ‘Responded to almost a quarter million telephone and e-mail inquiries at the SBA Answer Desk.
