James. S. (Pete) Cotton, 79, of Enid, Okla., and formerly of McCulloch County, died Monday, Jan. 28 in Integris Bass Baptist Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 in Live Oak Cemetery in Brady, Rev. Richard Evans officiating. Born July 2, 1922 near Voca, he was the son of John and Della Henry Cotton. Attending schools in both Voca and Brady, he was the youngest of four brothers. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII and was honorably discharged on Jan. 17, 1946. He moved to Sierra Blanca and married Margaret Laurence on Jan. 17, 1948. He spent the next 37 years as a self-employed automobile mechanic in Sierra Blanca. In November of 1984, he retired to Brady where he lived for 11 and one-half years before moving to Enid, Okla. on April 1, 1996. He was a member of the San Saba Chapter of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Cotton and Arthur Buswell of Enid, Okla.; a brother, Charles Cotton of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews.
