The Brady Bulldogs “ran into a bus” here last Friday night when the Wimberley Texans won a 77-41 district basketball game. Brady is 0-3 in league play and 7-13 overall. The Texans are 3-0 in district competition. “That bus just flat ran over us,” Bulldog coach Shawn Dalbert said after the game. “They are a mighty fine team that consists of 12 seniors, a junior and two sophomores.” Dalbert said that the Texans are well-coached and that they shot extremely well. “They made six threes, and I think they only shot eight. Their team posed a lot of match-up problems for us. Our zone didn’t help much when they shot so well from outside,” the Brady coach said. The Dogs stayed with the visitors pretty much in the first period when they trailed only 23-16, but Wimberley went on a 21-4 run in the second quarter to take a 44-20 lead at halftime. “We tried to run with them, but their transition game was just too tough for us,” Dalbert explained. “We just weren’t making our shots. We were not patient enough,” he said. Seniors Hunter Wilkinson and Johnny Menefield led the way for Brady with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Dogs will be at home this week, hosting Llano on Tuesday (tonight) and Burnet Friday night. Score by quarters: Wimberley 23 21 12 21’77 Brady 16 4 10 11’41 Brady scorers: C.J.
