Lohn Eagles swat Hornets, 63-46

The Varsity Hornets didn’t fair as well against the Lohn Eagles as the Lady Hornets did. The Varsity Eagles moved into town Friday night and took care of business, 63-46. Scoring for the Lohn Eagles were Jason Bloomer with 15, Garrett Bloomer and Dusty Huie, both with 13, Riley McFarland 10, Matt Orosco 4, Bill Fore and Richard Bivens, each with 3 and Chance Anderson 2. “The biggest factor in this game was our press which caused some turnovers in the second half,” said Lohn coach Leon Freeman. “We feel fortunate to go to Rochelle and get a district win.” The Eagles move to 12-8 on the season and 1-0 in district. On the record books for Rochelle were Jamie Williams with 17, Patrick Roberts 14, Eddie Teague 6, TK Morris 4, Cody Garza and Derek Evans 2 and Barret Bishop 1. “This was a really close ball game until TK fouled out in the third quarter,” said Rochelle coach Tommy Meredith. “We broke down and were unable to break their press. I was pleased with the way the kids played and never quit. We also lost Derek in the fourth quarter with a dislocated shoulder.” The Hornets move to 6-9 on the season and 0-1 in district. Score by quarters: Rochelle 12 14 7 13’46 Lohn 12 14 17 20’63
