Lady Bulldogs play with heart, but Wimberley wins, 38-19

Mired in an extended losing streak, the Brady Lady Bulldogs played with heart here last Friday night, before losing to Wimberley in a district basketball game, 38-19. “Man, it was a frustrating game,” Brady coach Ted Epley said. “I’m so proud of these ladies for their effort.” “They are in the middle of a horrible losing streak, and it would be so easy for them to go belly up, but they came out and played very hard against a very good Wimberley bunch,” he said. The Lady Dawgs, playing a deliberate game, led 6-5 after the first quarter, and they were tied with the Lady Texans at intermission, 9-9. “Our defense is pretty good, we just can’t seem to get the ball to go in the hole right now. We shot only 15 percent from the floor (24 percent from two-point range and 0 percent from three-point range). “It’s frustrating because we’ve spent about 90 percent of our time in practice recently working on our shots,” Epley said. “Even though we lost, I was extremely proud of the team. We’ll keep working and eventually this young team will get over the top,” he said. After winning two of their first three games, the Lady Dawgs have dropped 20 straight games. They are 0-5 in district play. The Lady Texans blew the Friday night game open in the third quarter when they outscored the Lady Dawgs, 15-6. They followed that with a 14-4 effort in the final period. “We’ve got No. 5 in the state, Llano, here Tuesday (tonight). We’ll need another super effort to defeat the Lady Yellowjackets. We need all of Brady to come out and pull for these Brady ladies. They’re working hard, and they need and deserve your help and support,” Epley said.
