McCulloch County students stressed out about the process of obtaining financial aid won’t have to worry anymore thanks to a financial aid forum designed to walk students through the tedious process. Scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Brady High School auditorium, the forum will explain the proper steps students need to take in filling out federal applications for student aid, low interest loans and how to finance their college education. The forum, offered to senior students at Brady, Rochelle, Lohn and Richland Springs, will be conducted by Lynn Wheeler of Angelo State University. In addition, all of the local banking institutions will each award one $100 check to a senior who can present them with a letter of acceptance to a two or four-year college or technical or vocational school. The students are required to have the letter of acceptance with them to be considered. Representatives from each local bank in Brady will be on hand early Thursday night at 6 p.m. to hand out brochures on financial aid and student loans. They will also discuss the services that each bank provides college students. “We have invited all of the area schools and encourage all seniors to attend,” said BHS student counselor Lynn Munden. “This forum is for anyone interested in financial aid, even adults who want to go back to school and are interested in obtaining financial aid.” Mrs. Munden added that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form will be handed out Thursday night during the forum.
