Filing period for Texas Silver Haired Legislature began Jan. 2, ends Feb. 28

The filing period for Texans age 60 years of age and older who want to run for the Ninth Texas Silver Haired Legislature (TSHL) began Wednesday, Jan. 2. Silver Haired legislators work with the Texas Legislature on senior issues which may become law. Persons age 60 or older that are registered voters may file as a candidate for election to the TSHL through Thursday, Feb. 28. Terms are for two years, and TSHL members pay their own travel expenses. Filing forms may be obtained from the Area Agency on Aging of the Concho Valley Council of Governments located at 4850 Knickerbocker Road or by calling 915-223-5704 in San Angelo and 1-877-944-9666 outside San Angelo. Four candidates will be elected from the Concho Valley, two from Tom Green and two from the rural counties. Currently serving as TSHL representatives are Garland Davis from Robert Lee, Mary Roden from Eldorado and Ralph Teague and Maggie Alderman from San Angelo.
