Llano not too tough for Bulldog 7th girls

Battling through four physical quarters of basketball, the Brady seventh grade girls teams each overcame lenient officiating and emerged victorius. In the B team’s game, the girls struggled to make things happen as the Llano team livened up the court with physical play. The Brady girls stayed focused and held on at the end and squeaked out a 14-13 victory. “The girls were both physically and mentally drained by the end of the game, but we held on to win,” said coach Mickey Holloway. Scoring for Brady were Amanda Atkinson 4, Abby Probst 6, Christina Felipe 2, Molly Gage 2. The Brady girls came out and posted a solid first half racking up 21 points to Llano’s 12. A weak offensive effort in the third let the Yellowjackets make up a little ground, but the Bulldogs held fast and pulled off the five-point victory. “The girls had to play very hard the whole game,” said coach Holloway. “The officiating allowed things to get a little out of control, but the girls were able to keep their heads in the game and they came away with a victory. “Offensively, Kelly Hyden had a very good game whild Addison Doyal had a good game on defense.” Scorers for Brady: Hyden 8, Holly Watson 4, Tori Riddles 2, Carrie Lundgren 3, Amanda Vandine 4, Lindsey Rutherford 4 and Miranda Villarreal 4.
