A Tuesday battle with the Ballinger Bearcats gave the freshman boys basketball team a, 54-47 victory. A strong fourth quarter finish by the Bulldogs kept the game out of reach of the visiting team as the minutes of the game dwindled. With hot-scoring offensive runs by Nathan Price and Gilbert Rodriguez who had 15 and 14 points respectively, the Bulldogs used a team effort to send the Bearcats home with a loss. “The boys were able to still get the win with a grea effort even though we didn’t execute very well,” said coach Tim Kilgore. “We are going to need improvement on our interior defense to win the district championship.” Scoring for Brady: Price 15, Rodriguez 14, Paden Behrens 11, Channing Booker 11 and Cooper Bagheri 3. H A tenacious defense and a bit of tough luck on offense plagued the freshman Bulldogs Friday as they hosted the Liberty Hill Panthers and fell to the visitors, 41-28. The second and fourth quarters were the difference in the game as runs of 13-5 and 15-8 gave the Panthers the edge they needed. Brady opened the game and held a narrow 6-5 lead at the end of the first period and came out strong in the third with a 9-8 run, but the Panther offense was too much for the Bulldogs. “There seemed to be a lid on the basket as the Bulldogs’ shots rolled around the rim but didn’t fall,” said coach Tim Kilgore. “We hit some threes, but we had a hard time converting our short range shots. You have to give Liberty Hill credit. They did a good job of challenging every shot.” Scoring for Brady: Nathan Price 9, Channing Booker 7, Paden Behrens 5, Justin Pollok 3, Gilbert Rodriguez 3 and John Vara 1.
