Hornets defeat Mullin, 55-44

With another win tucked away, the Rochelle Varsity Lady Hornets are becoming more and more the team to watch this year in district. Facing off against the Mullin Bulldogs Tuesday night, the Hornets got a slow start but managed to rally a fourth-quarter comeback to win, 55-44. Putting 28 points on the score board, Tanda Cook led the Hornets once again on offense. Other scorers were Adele Richardson and Shaylene Gossett, each with 8, Samantha Bryson with 6 and Jacki Williams 2. “This was a very physical ball game that we took over in the fourth quarter,” said Rochelle coach Mike Gardner. “We got a little lazy on defense in the second quarter. That made this a closer game than it should have been. “Tanda Cook had another good game with 28 points. Shaylene Gossett stepped up and made a couple of three pointers and scoring eight points which helped along with Adele Richardson who also had eight. “Almost everyone helped with the scoring. If we can get everyone scoring points, we’ll be okay. It will take some pressure off of Tanda.” Score by quarters: Rochelle 15 13 10 17’55 Mullin 9 17 10 8’44
