Eagles get back-to-back wins in 2002

The Lohn Varsity Eagles came back with a bang to kickstart the 2002 basketball season. In their first competition following the holiday break, the Eagles downed Santa Anna, 58-24. Led by Bill Fore with 14 points, the Eagles had a slow start in the first quarter but led their opponent, 6-4. Leading at the half, 19-10, the Eagles didn’t let up the remainder of the game and continued to dominate Santa Anna through out the final minutes of the game. Other scorers for Lohn were Garrett Bloomer 13, Richard Bivens 9, Riley McFarland 8, Jason Bloomer, Dusty Huie and Chance Anderson 3, Brandon Pearce and Matt Orosco 2 and Daniel Salinas 1. “Offensively we did a little better each quarter,” said Lohn coach Leon Freeman. “You could see that we had a 13-day layoff between games.” Score by quarters: Lohn 6 13 18 21’58 Santa Anna 4 6 8 6’24 H In their second competition of the new year, the Eagles didn’t waste any time pulvarizing the Mullin Bulldogs, 91-33. In a remarkable display of control, Lohn coach Leon Freeman said, “We had a really good offensive game and moved to 11-5 on the season.” Lohn scorers were J. Bloomer 17, Fore 15, G.
