JV Lady Dogs bumped by Ballinger, 47-44

In their final game before district, the Brady girls JV squad lost a close battle with Ballinger, 47-44. A sluggish start in the first half of the game left the Bulldogs trailing 29-16 at intermission, but a resurgence on defense curtailed the Bearcats’ scoring in the second half as they closed in to try and take the win. “We finally started hitting more shots in the second half and turned up the defense holding them to 18 second half points,” said coach Chris Wienecke. “For the first game after the holidays, the ladies did a great job.” Erica Hernandez again was the high point scorer in the game with 17 points followed by Shana Hagemann with 11. Other scorers were Chelsea Bandy 4, Savannah Hernandez 5, Dana Hagemann 3 and Anna Zapata 2. The JV girls will travel to Llano on Friday (today) to kick off their district play. Score by quarters: Brady 8 8 8 20’44 Ballinger 14 15 5 13’47
