The Howard Kilmer Post 510 of the American Legion and Auxiliary met Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. for their monthly business meetings at the Post home in Mercury. Louise Long was hostess for the social hour preceding the business meetings. Commander Hilmer Kruckemeyer and President Peggy Ross conducted a joint meeting of the Legion and Auxiliary. Plans were made for two fund-raisers. An all-you-can eat chili-stew supper is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment. On Saturday, Feb. 23, and a pancake supper will be held. The public is invited to attend. A report was given on the Community Christmas Dinner hosted by the Legion and Auxiliary. Seventy members and guests attended the event and enjoyed an evening of fellowship and entertainment. Keith Simpson, Clyde Ray and Wynell Chesney, and Louise Long provided entertainment with the children in attendance singing several Christmas songs. The next regularly scheduled business meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 with the social hour beginning at 6 p.m.
