College-bound high school students can take the ACT Assessment on Feb. 9, 2002, the next nationwide test date. The registration postmark deadline is Jan. 4. Late registration postmark deadline is Jan. 18 (an additional fee is required for late registration). ACT scores are accepted by virtually all colleges and universities in the nation, including all Ivy League schools. The test fee is $24. Colleges use ACT scores, along with a student’s high school GPA and other information to help determine admissions and the appropriate course placement for new students. For more information, including registration forms and free test prep materials, contact a high school counselor or register online on ACT’s website at www.act.org. The website also has helpful information including sample tests, the opportunity to order test preparation materials and links to useful sites including a free online college financial aid needs estimator.
