Bulldog 8th girls tangle with Texans

Four quarters of tenacious defense was the key ingredient in the Brady Middle School 8th grade girls’ A team’s 42-16, victory over Wimberley. Posting over 30 steals on the night, the young Lady Bulldogs used a team effort on the press as the key to their success. Erica Quintero led the offensive effort for the Bulldogs with 12 points while Lauren Pittman followed with eight points and four defensive rebounds. “We had a successful new play that we have been practicing that we were able to use when Wimberley got a technical foul. Tiffany Williams shot and made two free throws and then we ran the new play on the inbounds play and the girls pulled it off beautifully and Tiffany ripped a three. From there, the girls never let up,” said coach Misti Kilgore. Other scorers for Brady were Erica Longoria 5, Heather Delafuente 2, Tiffany Williams 8, Callie Young 2, and Monique Holloway 5. Score by quarters: Brady 10 11 12 9’42 Wimberley 2 3 6 5’16 H In the 8th grade B team’s game, the Brady girls were narrowly edged by the Texans, 19-17. “The girls did some good things, but they just didn’t get it done,” said coach Kilgore. “We had too many turnovers in the first half. We should have beat this team, but we made some silly mistakes. “This was a tough loss for the team, but they will be ready for the next time we meet up with Wimberley.” Camille Poe was the leading scorer for Brady with eight points coupled with eight defensive rebounds and five steals. Chelsea Brown posted six points and Bianca Sanchez added three. Score by quarters: Brady 2 7 5 3’17 Wimberley 4 5 8 2’19
