B.J. (Bill) Beakley, 81, of Brownwood, died Saturday, Dec. 8 at his home in Brownwood. A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Cox Cemetery in McCulloch County, Grover Beakley officiating. Born Feb. 4, 1920 in Mercury, he was the son of Edgar Claude and Ettie (Penn) Beakley. He was a graduated of Richland Springs High School and Daniel Baker College. He received a masters from the University of Texas in Austin. A resident of Brownwood since 1999, he was a native of McCulloch and San Saba Counties. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired trucking company manager. He is survived by two sisters, Ruby Pointer of Brownwood and Claudine Revman and husband, John, of Dallas; two brothers, Happy Beakley and wife, Rita, of Brownwood and Charles Beakley and wife, June, of Milburn; and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Opal Wilson. The family requests that memorials be made to the Cox Cemetery Association, Rt. 1 Box 92, Rochelle, Tex. 76872.
