Combined choirs sing ‘One King’ at church

The combined choirs of the First Baptist and First United Methodist Churches will present a Christmas musical, ‘One King,’ Sunday at the FBC in Brady. The cantata will be presented during the 11 a.m. morning service. The event will be repeated at the FUMC at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. Created by Robert Sterling, Lowell Alexander and Deborah Craig-Claar, the musical is arranged and orchestrated by Robert Sterling. According to the publisher, “This musical contains not only a fresh re-telling of the events surrounding the birth of the Christ Child but also emphasizes the unique qualities of His kingship.” Directed by Judy Owen, the 50-plus choir is accompanied by Norma Ridout. Soloists at the Sunday performance will be James Mallow, Tara Drake and Lynn Munden. The soloists at the Methodist service will be Tina Bradshaw, Kathleen Gray and Joanne Dalgard. A trio includes Lynne White, Shelly Perkins and Denise O’Dell. Narrators are Betzy Day and Mike Slone. Sandra Telford will sign one song. The public is cordially invited to either or both presentations.
