The Rochelle Study Club Christmas party was held at the Rochelle Community Center on Dec. 3. The center was decorated in bright reds and greens and tables were covered in red with table runners printed with a Christmas motif. Candles surrounded with greenery added the finishing touch. A Christmas tree decorated predominently in red was also in evidence and was quickly surrounded by gifts brought by those attending. President Pat Baker welcomed members and guests. A delicious potluck meal consisting of dishes of all varieties was provided by members was enjoyed by all in attendance. Table grace was led by Rev. Kenneth Barr of the Rochelle Baptist Church. Following the meal, Rev. Barr spoke of the true spirit of the season and read the Christmas Story according to Luke. Pat Townsend, accompanied by Pat Baker on the piano, led the singing of a number of Christmas carols. Gifts were exchanged by the luck of the draw, then each recipient was asked to show and tell. This is always a time for much good natured ribbing and laughter since the gifts are in the $5 range and tend to be imaginative. A cash collection of $173.50 will be forwarded to New Horizons of Goldthwaite to buy Christmas presents for the children there. Hostesses of the party were Margaret Draycott, Social Chairman, and her committee made up of Mabel Jones, Winkie Hendrix, and Vonnie McCain. Other members attending were Pat Baker, Dolores Barton, Jane Bohls, Betty Bourbon, Clova Bryson, Valire Engdahl, Eloise Ficke, Willie Hibbs, Maedell Long, Charlotte McDonald, Betty Meyer, Sara Myers, Billie Mae Smith, Betty Stewart, Marguerite Stroeck, Pat Townsend, Betty Knutson, and Betty Edmondson.
