Local National Guard kicks off food/toy drive

This Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Company C 3rd. of the 112th Armor of the Texas National Guard will begin a week-long food and toy drive benefitting Toys for Tots and needy families in McCulloch County. Looking to help collect food items such as canned goods and other non-perishable foods, the collection drive will be held Saturday and then again from Tuesday through Friday of next week. Collection times next week will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. “This is another way we can serve our country and community by doing a small part to help some needy families in Brady and McCulloch County,” said Staff Sergeant Dennis Velez Sr. “All donations received throughout the drive will be given to Helping Hands of McCulloch County to be distributed to the appropriate families.” Food and toy donations may be made at the National Guard Armory located on North Bridge Street.
