Lady Dawgs fall to Mason, coach unhappy

“I’m not going to ‘sugar-coat’ this game,” Brady Lady Bulldogs coach Ted Epley said after the game here with Mason Tuesday night. After the 41-29 loss to the Lady Punchers, he said, “We stunk. We were not ready to play. We got out-shot, out-hustled, out-coached, period.” The Lady Dawgs could manage only two points in the first quarter and eight in the second period and trailed 24-10 at intermission. “I’m embarassed by the way we played, and the girls are embarassed, too. The one good thing about this game is that it ended,” he said. Krystal Jacoby and Kayce Pollok led the Brady team in scoring with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Only two other players scored, and they each had two points. The Brady team shot poorly in all phases, hitting only 28 percent (10-36) from the field, 40 percent (2-5) from three-point range and 27 percent (3-11) from the free throw line. “We had a closed-door meeting for about an hour after the game. It was a ‘meeting of the minds’ kind of meeting. “I feel we’ve got a lot of improvement to do before district starts on Jan. 4. I believe our girls will respond to the challenge that’s been issued to them. We will get better,” Epley said. The Lady Dawgs are slated to be in the Ballinger tournament this weekend.
