Brady JV boys begin basketball season 2-0

The Brady JV boys got off to a 2-0 start this basketball season with victories over their first two opponents, San Saba and Lampasas. In the first contest at San Saba last Tuesday night, the Bulldogs claimed a 43-36 win over the Armadillos as John Moore led the team with 11 points. Tied at 20-20 at halftime, the Bulldogs were down three after three periods, but they roared back in the fourth quarter to get the seven-point win. “I want to commend the young men on their class and composure. This was a good team win,” coach Larry Hoelscher said. Score by quarters: Brady 8 10 9 16’43 San Saba 10 8 12 6’36 Brady scorers: Carter McBee 4, John Moore 11, Daniel Easley 2, Oscar Villarreal 7, Tommy Langseth 2, Jeremy Shields 8, Chris Airheart 9. * * * On Saturday night, the JV boys edged past Lampasas, 35-34. The game was nip and tuck the entire way with the Dogs squeaking it out. Three players tied for top honors at nine points each. They were McBee, Moore and Shields. “The team was a little rusty after the holiday break, but we got a late fourth quarter lead and were able to play the stall game for the win,” Hoelscher said. The team will be in the Grape Creek tournament starting on Thursday when they are scheduled to face Menard at 5:15 p.m. That opponent may change since the Yellowjackets are still in the football playoffs.
