The City of San Angelo becomes a Christmas wonderland beginning Friday, Dec. 7. That is the night that the 2,500,000 lights are turned on with spectacular displays along the river and park areas. It is the largest lighting display in central-west Texas. December 7 is also the opening of Christmas at Old Fort Concho, one of the state’s premiere Christmas celebrations. The Fort harkens back to the frontier days with the parade ground covered with living history units from all over the country depicting various periods in American history. Each building, officers quarters, barracks, headquarters, quartermaster and commissary are full of Christmas shopping items, food, entertainment and fun. The event will continue through Sunday, Dec. 9. The Christmas lights will remain on until Monday, Dec. 31.
