To the Students and Faculty of Brady High School Nov. 11, 2001: Please accept my heartfelt thanks for the excellent ceremonies that your school hosted on Nov. 9 for the 2001 Veterans Day recognition of Veterans of McCulloch County. My salute of gratitude goes out to each student and faculty member who participated in the Veterans Day activities, by recognizing those of us who have served in our nation’s armed forces. As a veteran it certainly made me proud to stand among other veterans who sacrificed so much to keep our “colors flying” during troubled times in all parts of the world. Today we Americans are called once again to bear the brunt of the ongoing fight against terrorism. Our nation’s tragic losses on “9-11” have brought all Americans together in a common cause, and has shown that our nation will take up the challenge to defend our precious country against those who would shed our blood and attempt to take away the freedom that we all cherish so dearly. Once again, thank you. Semper Fidelis, Leonard C. Westra Master Gunnery Sergeant, USMC (Retired) Lohn, Tex.
