Brady 9th rallies past Ingram JV here, 36-33

A 20-point fourth quarter comeback gave the Brady freshman football team a thrilling 36-33 win over the Ingram JV here last Thursday evening. The Bulldogs scored three times in the final period then sealed the game when Paden Behrens intercepted an Ingram pass at the Brady 5 on the final play of the contest. The Warriors scored first on a 15-yard run and converted the extra point in the first quarter. Ingram went ahead by 21 with two scores early in the second quarter on runs of 17 and 16. Trailing 21-0, the Bulldogs got their first points before halftime on a three-yard run by Cooper Begheri. Behrens ran for the two-point conversion, and the Dogs were down by 13 points at intermission, 21-8. Brady closed the gap temporarily in the third quarter when Behrens passed 23 yards to John Vara. Channing Booker ran for the two points. But Ingram came back with a 15-yard scoring run. The PAT failed, and it was 27-16 as the fourth period began. Behrens scored on a one-yard run and the PAT failed to make the score 27-22, but Ingram came back with a six-pointer on a four-yard run, making it 33-22. Booker then broke a 54-yard scoring run and Behrens ran for the two points, making it 33-30. Behrens got the winning TD a bit later on a one-yard run. The point after failed. “The kids held Ingram on downs inside the 10-yard line on their first drive,” Brady coach Bill Brown said. “Begheri recovered an onside kick with 5 minutes left in the game when the game was 33-30 in Ingram’s favor,” he added.
