Brady High School basketball season has begun and practices are being held as the first games are just around the corner. As usual, Brady will have a full slate of teams with boys’ and girls’ varsity, junior varsity and freshmen. The varsity coaches, Shawn Dalbert and Ted Epley, return for another year. This is Dalbert’s second and Epley’s third year so there is some stability in the system. Epley said he has some 30 girls out for the program this season, and he hopes to carry 11 players on the varsity. The remainder will be on the JV and 9th grade teams. Dalbert will carry between 10 and 12 on the varsity, and he is expecting around 30 out for the sport when football season ends on Nov. 9. Both BHS coaches expect improved teams over last year. The girls will have their first scrimmage here on Tuesday, Nov. 6 when Menard and Junction come to town. The session will be for varsity and junior varsity only and will begin at 5 p.m. A second scrimmage will be at Brookesmith on Nov. 10 with the first game slated for Tuesday, Nov. 13 at San Angelo Lakeview for V, JV and 9th. Brady’s first girls’ home game will be against Bangs on Nov. 16. The boys will see their first scrimmage action in Fredericksburg at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. Their initial game will be at San Saba with V, JV and 9th on Nov. 20. The Bulldogs’ first home game will be against Lampasas on Saturday, Nov. 24.
