Mikey Duane Reddell, 82, of Voca, died Thursday, Oct. 25 in Brady. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels with Brother Don Norwood officiating. Burial followed in the Voca Cemetery. Pallbearers were K.Y. Owens, Jackie Behrens, Gene Edmiston, Walter Wilson, Jack Edmiston and Ret. Capt. Gerald Lamont. Born June 16, 1919, in La Luz, N. Mex., he was the son of A. Rann Reddell and Viola (Zellner) Reddell. He married Jimmie G. Davis on March 15, 1952 in San Antonio. He served 35 years with the U.S. Air Force Fire Department, serving as fire chief for 17. He worked with the Abilene Fire Department prior to WWII. He was the president of the Voca Cemetery Association and loved gardening and wood working. He was also a member of the Voca Church of Christ and a WWII Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Jimmie, a son, Duane D. Reddell and wife, Ruby, of Voca; a brother; David Reddell and wife, Kathleen, of Abilene; a sister, Doroles Woodson, and husband, Woody, of Abilene; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Eric. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Elwynn Roderick. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cherokee Home for Children and/or Mission Printing.
