Brady 9th squash Jackets, 30-8

Taking advantage of several big plays, the Bulldog freshman team brought home the only Brady victory last week as they blasted the Llano Yellow Jackets, 30-8. The two shortest scoring plays came from 14 and 16 yards while plays of 52 and 59 yards gave the offense the spark they needed. Both teams remained scoreless after the first quarter, but a 14-yard run by Paden Behrens in the second gave the Dogs a lead they would never relinquish. The two point conversion was good on a pass from Behrens to Channing Booker. The Bulldogs took their 8-0 lead to the break and then widened the gap in the third as Behrens and Booker again hooked up, this time on a 59-yard pass for the second score on the night. The two point conversion from Behrens to Mackey Crawford was good and Brady led 16-0. Cooper Bagheri tacked on the third score for the Bulldogs on a 16-yard run which was followed by yet another two-point conversion pass by Booker to Crawford. The final quarter started with Brady leading 24-0. A 52-yard run by Bagheri with a missed PAT topped off the scoring for the Dogs as the Jackets managed a late-game score. Several drives by Llano were thwarted by a scrappy Brady defense. Gilbert Rodriguez recovered one fumble and Behrens pulled down one interception while Bodie Landis recovered an onside kick. “Cody McKnight, Levi Bandy and Chris Castleman also had good defensive games for us,” said coach Bill Brown. The freshmen Dogs moved to 3-2 on the season and will play Burnet at home Thursday night. Score by quarters: Brady 0 8 16 6’30 Llano 0 0 0 8’8
