Florence McCracken, 83, of Fort Worth, died Monday, Oct. 8 in North Richland Hills. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 11 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cherokee Cemetery with Mark Jones officiating. Interment followed at the Cherokee Cemetery. Born March 21, 1918 in San Saba County, she was the daughter of Levi Lafayette Cates and Janie Lucy (Massey) Cates. On Feb. 10, 1955, she married Harold McCracken in Dallas where they made their home. She was very devoted to her family, being careful to help and care for everyone, especially her parents. Her husband preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1988. She is survived by her brother, Foy L. Cates of Comanche, two sisters, Iva Dell Hufstutler of Ingram and Annie Lee (Peggy) Henderson of Richland Hills; nephews, James Burt Cates of Axtell, Billy Lawrence Cates of Pontotoc, Robert Coffee of Austin and Roy Coffee of Dallas; nieces, Mary Jo Lawson of Wills Point, Zaida Bollier of Houston and Bonnie Dorris of Richardson; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
