The McCulloch County 4-H Rifle Club will sponsor a Junior Olympic three Position Sporter Air Rifle Match in Brady at the Kiwanis Youth Building on Saturday, Oct. 20. The event is open to all Texas 4-H Rifle Clubs, and each shooter must be a current member of USA Shooting or of a USAS Club to participate. First time members may sign up for the free membership or current members can renew their membership during registration time. Registration forms must be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 15 and mailed to Dr. Gene Nelson, 906 South Pine Street, Brady, Tex. 76825. Checks for entry fees should be made payable to McCulloch County 4-H Rifle Club. Entry fee for the first event is $8 and each additional event will be $4. A $4 late fee for each shooter will be applied to capacity of the range: six relays of six shooters for a total of 36 shooters. Age divisions include: J1’age 18-20 until Aug. 31 of the year in which they graduate from high school or the equivalent; J2’age 15-17 in the year they participate; and J3’age 14 and under in the year they participate. Events include: match 1, 3×10 three position sporter air 10 shots each position; match 2, prone 1×10 from match 1; match 3, standing 1×10 from match 1; match 4, prone 1×10 from match 1. All matches must be entered before firing match 1. All events will be run according to the 2001 National Standard three-position air rifle rules. Rules may be viewed at or downloaded from www.civilianmarksmanshipro-gram.com. Check-in and registration will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday morning. An orientation, which everyone must attend, will follow at 8 a.m., and the first event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented after the last targets have been scored (around 4 p.m.). All shooters, coaches and spectators attending the meet are required to use protective eye wear while on the line and in the building. The Brady Kiwanis Youth Building is located one mile east of the downtown square on Main Street in Brady.
