The Rochelle Hornets added another big win to their season record Friday night as they traveled to Blanket to go head-to-head against the Tigers. The Hornets jumped out in the lead in the first quarter and never let up, gaining touchdown after touchdown that resulted in a 48-14 blowout. Eddie Teague brought the first TD into the end zone on a one-yard run. The second Teague TD came in the second quarter on a 23-yard pass from TK Morris. Jamey Williams stepped to the line next and on a 55-yard interception earned the Hornets their third TD of the night. The PAT by Alex Vargas was good and earned the Hornets two points. Williams owned the third quarter, bringing in three TD’s each on five-yard runs. Another PAT by Vargas was good for two in the third quarter. The Tigers didn’t have any luck in the air as another pass was intercepted in the fourth quarter and returned for a 71-yard TD by Williams. The Hornets stacked 251 total offensive yards to Blanket’s 148. Williams had 22 carries for 120 yards while Teague totaled 80 yards on 12 carries. “Our running game proved too much for Blanket with the 1-2 punch of Jamey and Eddie,” said Rochelle coach Tommy Meredith. “Defensively, the kids played a superb game against a heavily favored Blanket squad.” The Hornets move to 3-2 on the season with their most recent win over the Tigers. They travel to Richland Springs to face-off against the Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
