James E. Price, 67, of Brady, died Friday, Oct. 5 at his residence in Brady. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Gaylon Morris officiating. Burial followed in China Creek Cemetery in San Saba County under the direction of Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Born Sept. 8, 1934, in Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming, he was the son of Col. Carter Price and Lorna (Blake) Price. He married Suzanne Roberds on June 23, 1962 in Odessa. He received a bachelor of science in education from Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos. He was a school teacher, serving three years in West Columbia and 25 years in the Brady Independent School District. A resident of Brady since 1965, he retired from teaching in 1991. His hobbies included playing golf, working with the Adult Literacy Program, the United Way, the local chapter of the Retired Teachers Association and the Heart of Texas Museum Board. He also had a deep interest in local politics, serving on the Brady City Council. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne, of Brady; three sons, Matthew Price and wife, Lynn, of Brady; Jason Price of Austin and Paul Price of Breckenridge; a brother, Carter O. Price of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Tiffany, Quaid, Kassidy and Kadyn Price. He was preceded in death by his parents.
