2001 RHS HOMECOMING KING AND QUEEN’Alex Vargas and Adele Richardson were crowned Rochelle High School Homecoming King and Queen during Friday night’s pre-game homecoming festivities. The Rochelle Hornets wrapped up a big win Friday night against the Mullin Bulldogs, but not before crowning a new Homecoming King and Queen for 2001. With heads held high, Alex Vargas and Adele Richardson walked off the field as the 2001 RHS Homecoming King and Queen. Each year students are selected by the entire high school student body to represent the school as homecoming court nominees. This year’s nominees included Sarah Smith and Casey Smith, Samantha Bryson and TK Morris, Heather McCartney and Jamey Williams, Tanda Cook and Alex Vargas and Adele Richardson and Jesse Kirkland. Adele is the daughter of Jack and Madeline Richardson of Rochelle. She is involved in basketball, track, UIL, One Act Play, FFA, student council and band. Alex is the son of Eliceo and Socorro Vargas of Mercury. He is involved in football, basketball, track and cross country. Dukes and Duchesses representing each class included Stacey Smith and Shane Morris, seniors; Heather Keith and Patrick Roberts, juniors; Lacy Bryson and Eddie Teague, sophomores; and Alisha Slone and Romano Vargas, freshmen. Other students who gained recognition during the homecoming festivities were Dakota Eckert and Stacey Smith who were chosen as the 2001 band beau and sweetheart. Dakota is the son of Tana Pitcox of Brady, and Stacey is the daughter of Floyd and Vickie Smith, also of Brady. This year’s title of football sweetheart went to Erica Roueche, while the title of cheerleader beau went to Houston Smith. Erica is the daughter of David and Donna Roueche of Brady, and Houston is the son of Marvin and Suzzie Smith of Brady.
