The Brady Junior Varsity football team took a hit on the chin Thursday night when the Ballinger Bearcats rolled through town and blanked the Bulldogs, 40-0. Posting only 130 total offensive yards, the Bulldogs struggled to move the ball down the field. Jimmy Flores was the leading rusher for the Dogs. Defensively, Randy Allin was noted by the coaches as the leading tackler. “We are still struggling with the basics,” said coach Larry Hoelscher. “Randy, Jimmy and Stephen Conrad all had outstanding games. Stephen was playing at 100 percent for the entire game. He put forth a valiant effort the entire night.” The strength of the Bearcats proved too much for the Brady squad as they rolled down the field and racked up points throughout all four quarters of the game. “Our defense is still having problems wrapping up when they hit the ball carrier,” said Hoelscher. “We have got to master the basics before we can expect to make improvements.” The Bulldogs will travel to Comanche Thursday for their next matchup.
