Bulldog frosh fall to Blanco JV, 48-30

The Brady freshman football team found the Blanco JV a bit too strong as the Bulldogs fell last Thursday evening in Blanco in a high-scoring game, 48-30. The team is 1-2 on the season. Blanco got on the scoreboard initially with a 55-yard pass interception return then went up 8-0 with the two-point conversion. The Dogs came back immediately as Channing Booker returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for the TD. The PAT failed. The Doggies went ahead 12-8 moments later when John Vara scored on a 29-yard pass from QB Paden Behrens. In a seesaw battle, Blanco regained the lead with a one-yard run and again the Panthers got the two points, making it 16-12. Behrens put the Dogs back on top later in the second period on a four-yard bootleg run. The point after failed and Brady led 18-16. Blanco went back on top before intermission with a three-yard TD run. The PAT failed. It was 24-18 at halftime. A Panther returned the second half kickoff for the TD and made the two points, making the score, 32-18. Behrens scored another time for his team on a one-yard run. The point after failed. Blanco scored later in the period on a four-yard pass. The PAT failed, making the score, 36-24, after three quarters. The Panthers got a 70-yard TD run early in the final period before Mackey Crawford scored on a 45-yard pass from Behrens. The point failed. Blanco scored near the end for the 48-30 victory. Brady coach Bill Brown praised his offensive line for its work’Adam Jacoby, Blaine Whittington, Jacob Bierman, Chris Robinett and Will Robinett. “This group did an outstanding job of coming off the ball and controlling the line of scrimmage,” he said.
