The Mane Lion

If you look around Brady this week, you will see red, white and blue banners up on most of the businesses. Brady Lions put these up to help get the community in the spirit for celebrating Labor Day and to welcome all of our visitors for the World Championship Barbecue Goat Cookoff. This is also one of our fund raising events, and we truly appreciate the participation of so many businesses. The monies that the Brady Lions Club raises are used to provide services right here in McCulloch County. Some of our local ‘We Serve’ projects are the Lions Honor Banquet to recognize our academically achieving youth, an annual scholarship for one of our county’s graduating seniors, and the purchase of eye exams and glasses for kids whose families can not afford them. You can participate with us in these projects by patronizing the Brady Lions Club booth at the Goat Cookoff. We will offer face painting (and bald head painting) for all of the children from ages 3 to 93 and we will spray your hair with washable psychedelic colors. It’s great fun for everyone, and the money we raise is reinvested in local charitable projects. Plans are well under way for hosting Lions Clubs District 2-A1 Cabinet Meeting in October. We’re planning a golf tournament, and other social activities to accompany the business meetings. There will be numerous out of town visitors for this meeting. If you would like to have a good time while serving your neighbors both near and far, come visit a Brady Lions Club meeting. We get together for lunch at Caf’ at the Depot each Thursday at noon. Contact a Brady Lion and say, ‘I’d like to come see what Lionsim is all about.’
