Bill Lewis, 70 of Richland Springs, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel in San Saba with Rev. Bud Stevens officiating. Interment followed at the Richland Springs Cemetery. Born Sept. 18, 1931 in Richland Springs, he was the son of James Lowell Lewis and Mary Munsell Lewis. He served in the US Army in the early 1950s and spent much of his life working with horses, having been foreman of the T.E. Winters Ranch for several years. He loved horses and spent much of his time riding, buying, selling and trading. He is survived by his two sons, David Lewis of Goldthwaite and Sgt. Mark Lewis and his wife, Shirley of Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter, Sandra and her husband, Rick Baskin of San Saba; grandchildren, Angela Cobb Barkey of San Saba, Jimma Hicks of San Saba, Rafael Lewis and Ciara Lewis, both of Faribanks, Alaska; John Baskin and Laura Baskin, both of Brady; a great-grandson, Russton Ellis of San Saba; a brother, Leroy Lewis of Richland Springs; sisters, Sharon Ellis of Early, Rachel Mueller of Ruidoso New Mexico, Marinel Lewis of Early and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Diane Beckendorf and a brother, Glen Lewis.
